The Augusta-Richmond County Public Library’s mission is to “Enrich the Lives of the Community,” and our staff strives daily to be a pillar to the residents of Augusta-Richmond County. We provide a safe haven for patrons of all ages all while connecting them to free access to books, entertainment, technology, educational resources, career-advancing tools, and more.
For one mother and son, ARCPLS has positively impacted their lives for over a decade, and they plan to utilize our resources for years to come. Read more about Brianne and her son Jacob’s story below!
“The Augusta-Richmond County Public Library System has impacted the lives of me and my son beyond measure. We moved to Augusta in 2013 and have been a part of the Augusta-Richmond County Public Library family since. My son, 6 years old at this time, began utilizing the computers, books, and DVDs in the children’s department. He also participated in the Lego Club and Star Wars Reads Day, which to this day is still a favorite of his. Being an only child, not only having access to computers helpful but being able to meet new people and make new friends enriched his life in many ways.
Now 16 years of age, my son and I continue to visit and utilize resources every week. Being a single mother, on a limited monthly income, I am unable to afford cable/internet for our home. Having the ability to access computers for homework and school projects and being able to check out a hotspot is truly a lifesaver. My son continues to participate in young adult activities at the library. Because of these activities, he can learn new things such as how to play chess. We can not imagine the library not being a part of our lives. We are grateful for this.”
