The Augusta-Richmond County Public Library System (ARCPLS) is excited to host its fifth annual Star Wars Reads Day (SWRD) extravaganza on October 14, 2017, from 11 am to 3 pm at the Headquarters Library (823 Telfair St., Augusta). This family-friendly event is free and open to the public.
Highlights include book giveaways for the first 300 children and youth, Star Wars-themed storytime, arts and crafts, dramatic readings by Jessye Norman School for the Arts students, Star Wars music played by the Richmond County Orchestra Program, trivia contests, and an artists’ alley and silent auction.
This year’s SWRD will continue the tradition of featuring a celebrity reader. This year’s special guest is actor Nalini Krishan, who played Barriss Offee in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones. Star Wars fans will also have the chance to participate in an autograph signing and listen to Ms. Krishan discuss her work in a live interview.
Below is the tentative schedule. All events take place in the Children’s Department of the Headquarters Library unless otherwise noted:
10:45 am – 11:10 am: Theme music performed by the Richmond County Orchestra Program
11 am – 11:15 am.: Opening Ceremony with Celebrity Guest Nalini Krishan, Barriss Offee from Star Wars Episode II, Attack of the Clones
11:15 am: Watto’s Junkyard Star Wars Collectors’ Club opens (Second Floor, Young Adult Area)
11:15 am – 11:40 am: Reading Time with Celebrity Guest Nalini Krishan, the 501st, and Special Guests and Raffle
11:15 am –3:00 pm: Artist Alley
11:15 am –1:00 pm: Silent Auction
11:40 am – noon: Theme music performed by the Richmond County Orchestra Program
11:40 am -noon Parade of Heroes and Villians Costume Celebration (prizes for all costumed participants!)
noon – 12:30 pm: “Inside the Galactic Studio” Grand Moff Elizabeth’s one-on-one with Nalini Krishan and Raffle
11:45 am – 2 pm: Arts and Crafts
12:45 pm – 1:15 pm: Autographs with Nalini Krishan and Sarah Pacetti, 2017 Star Wars Reads Day print artist
1 pm – 1:30 pm: Readers Theater presented by the Jessye Norman School for the Arts and Raffle
1:30 pm – 2 pm: Trivia and Raffle
2 pm – 4:30 pm: Popcorn and a Movie (First Floor, Auditorium)
