A Season of Angels

If you need a light pick-me-up before Christmas to help set the mood, Debbie Macomber’s A Season of Angels just might fit the bill.

Three people have three prayers for Christmas. Timmy Potter writes to God for a school assignment and asks to have a father by Christmas, but his mother is still clinging to the past and her love for Timmy’s father, Jeff. Leah is a delivery room nurse who longs to have children of her own. Monica longs for marriage and a husband. The three make up quite a Christmas prayer list.

God answers their prayers, but a flock of angel helpers gets the work done. Enter Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy, three novice ambassador angels who are tasked with guiding Jody, Timmy’s mom, Leah, and Monica in learning how faith and determination can change their hearts and lives.

It’s a rocky road the three are on. Leah has obsessed about a baby for so long that she is in danger of destroying her marriage. Shirley is so sanctimonious that she is becoming very hard to like and risks being very isolated. Jody needs to leave the cocoon of her grief and become engaged with life again.

Just like the scent of Christmas cookies, you can smell happy-ever-after on the winter air of Seattle. The fun comes in finding out how all the conundrums are resolved. This light-hearted book is available for check out from your Augusta-Richmond County libraries today.
